"Charity is a supreme virtue and a great channel through which the mercy of God is passed onto mankind." - Conrad Hilton

Cultures all over the world have spoken a great deal on the merits of giving back to society. Charity finds mention in the works of eminent writers, thinkers and leaders extensively, and in all religions. However, for many giving back requires personal reasons. In the words of Aristotle: “To decide to whom to give it, and how large and when, and for what purpose and how, is neither in every man’s power nor an easy matter.”

Today, two-thirds of people in India live in poverty: 68.8% of the Indian population lives on less than $2 a day. Over 30% even have less than $1.25 per day available - they are considered extremely poor. This makes the Indian subcontinent one of the poorest countries in the world; women and children, the weakest members of Indian society, suffer most. The poverty stats of India are not going to improve, unless people help each other out. When considering poverty in the developing world, people feel deep sorrow but seem to put no effort whatsoever to reduce or eradicate the problem. Poverty in today’s world has turned out to be sinister and we lay passive towards the problem, therefore such attitude has made us powerless to stop it. While poverty is extreme and widespread, let’s not forget just how many rich and wealthy people there are in the developed world capable of giving. It’s high time we must realize the power that we have in our hands when pooled together. When everyone is giving to an effective charity, the size of our donation would directly correspond to the number of people we are able to help. We don’t have to be a millionaire to make a significant difference. Just as every drop in the ocean counts to form a vast water mass, even small donations have the potential to drastically improve an individual’s quality of life.

So let’s join hands and give in our all to make a difference to the world. With HumbleHelpers, let us be the change we wish to see.
